چکیده

This paper describes how to use geometric boundary models of assembly components to find mating features, thereby permitting simpler task specifications to be used. This forms part of our work on a high-level robot assembly task planner. To mitigate the combinatorics of searching for a feasible correspondence between features of different bodies, boundary models produced by PADLS are matched against a library of standard compound features. The feasibility of mating compound features is analysed using the symmetry groups of features.

ASPEN: Computer-Aided Assembly Sequence Planning and Evaluation System Based on Predetermined Time Standard

The purpose of this research is to objectively evaluate the differences among the feasible assembly sequences. For this purpose, a computer-aided Assembly Sequence Planning and Evaluation system (ASPEN) was developed. ASPEN automatically searches all geometrically feasible sequences by decomposing solid models of a product. ASPEN also chooses an optimum sequence with the least operating time. M...

‘BALANCING AND SEQUENCING’ VERSUS ‘ONLY BALANCING’ IN MIXED MODEL U-LINE ASSEMBLY SYSTEMS: AN ECONOMIC ANALYSIS

With the growth in customers’ demand diversification, mixed-model U-lines (MMUL) have acquired increasing importance in the area of assembly systems. There are generally two different approaches in the literature for balancing such systems. Some researchers believe that since the types of models can be very diverse, a balancing approach without simultaneously sequencing of models will not yield...

Computer Aided Assembly Attributes Retrieval Methods for Automated Assembly Sequence Generation

Achieving an appropriate assembly sequence needs deep verification for its physical feasibility. For this purpose, industrial engineers use several assembly predicates; namely, liaison, geometric feasibility, stability and mechanical feasibility. However, testing an assembly sequence for these predicates requires huge assembly information. Extracting such assembly information from an assembled ...
